The following is a testimony shared with Streams of Light International by one of our volunteers:
“I had heard about GYC for several years and finally had the opportunity to go last year. Not knowing what to expect I went to Portland with a couple of my friends who also were first timers. Little did I know how much of a blessing I was about to receive.
With the biblical lectures, prayer meetings, and meeting new friends in Christian fellowship I knew God had directed me with his hands to attend GYC! I had no idea how much of an impact it would have on me and the doors that were about to open in the next few months to follow.
It was there at GYC that I had heard for the first time about Streams of Light and their mission trip to Lansing, Michigan to pass out 50,000 Great Controversies door to door. I loved everything about what Streams of Light was trying to do and shortly after GYC ended, myself and a couple friends all signed up for the mission trip!
Someone had asked me what the biggest highlight of 2024 was and my immediate response was going to the Lansing, Michigan mission trip. I was so blessed by what happened that week from sharing the gospel door to door, to the early morning prayer meetings, and I know my relationship with Christ has only gotten stronger by that mission week. Prior to this trip I was struggling to see my role in the Lord’s work. What he wanted me to do, where Jesus wanted me. And during and after that mission trip it was made much more clearer how to effectively spread God’s word, specifically in the Three Angels Messages. It’s mission trips like these that you can so clearly hear God’s voice speaking to you and truly find your calling in Christ.
The mission trip didn’t just stop in Lansing, Michigan. By God’s grace my brother and I took the same mission spirit and structure to our local church. And now by God’s grace we have taken leadership roles in our church and have begun distributing the Great Controversy in our community as well as taking prayer requests and signing people up for Bible studies. Our church which was once stagnant in the line of collective evangelism is now alive and breathing in sharing the Gospel.
From GYC, to Streams of Light, to my local church I have seen the Lord’s hand guiding me in the past, present, and with confidence I can say the future. And I’m so thankful with the ministries and people that God has placed in my life to help me along this Christian journey as we near His return.”
