Dear Friends,

The Lord has been blessing our busy ministry in so many ways! There is much to share—and limited space to tell it all. From mission trips and city evangelism, to a special outreach initiative in Chicago, our upcoming Bible conference for both church members and the community, Light Squads, and more—we are truly rejoicing in the doors God is opening for Streams of Light.

We look forward to sharing more in our next newsletter, but for now, I’m especially excited to introduce a brand-new initiative: English for Mission (EFM)—which launched on March 2 at our Gulf Coast campus in Lumberton, Mississippi. What began as a vision to equip individuals for mission through language training is now becoming a beautiful reality.

Currently, six students are enrolled in the in-person program, each with a desire to grow in their ability to communicate the gospel more effectively. Their days are full and purposeful, beginning with worship, followed by Bible class, and then three hours of focused English instruction. Through engaging lessons, students are developing skills in reading, writing, listening, and speaking—tools that will not only strengthen their language ability, but also enable them to connect with others and share truth with clarity and confidence.

After just two weeks, one student shared, “My husband told me he can already see a big improvement in my English.” A simple but powerful reminder of the impact this training is already having.

But learning in the English for Mission program goes far beyond the classroom.

Each Thursday, students participate in hands-on activities and field trips designed to reinforce what they have learned in practical, meaningful ways—helping bridge the gap between knowledge and real-life application, and building both confidence and competence.

On Fridays, the focus shifts to outreach. Students join their instructor and team members in the community, engaging in simple acts of service such as yard work and small clean-up projects. These humble efforts have already opened doors for connection and ministry. Several community members have visited the Bass Memorial Church, and we praise God that a local pastor and his wife have expressed interest in Bible studies as a result.

The impact of English for Mission is not limited to those on campus. On March 30, we launched our first online cohort serving students in Latin America, with four students currently participating. In addition, we are preparing to welcome a second online cohort for students in Europe, scheduled to begin on May 4.

As this program continues to grow, we are reminded that language is more than communication—it is a bridge to the heart. Through English for Mission, students are not only learning a language, but also being equipped as ambassadors for Christ, ready to serve wherever God calls them.

We are deeply grateful for your prayers and support, which make this work possible. Lives are being touched, connections are being formed, and seeds are being planted for eternity.

A Special Opportunity to Make a Difference

As the program expands, we are increasingly aware that many who feel called to join simply do not have the financial means to do so. Recently, a prospective online student from a developing country had to withdraw his application due to the cost of tuition—a reminder that while the harvest is plentiful, access is not always equal.

We invite you to prayerfully consider supporting the EFM Worthy Student Fund. Your gift can help remove financial barriers and make it possible for students from lower-income countries to receive training that equips them for mission and ministry.

A gift of $100 can sponsor one month of tuition for a student, while $30 can provide the required e-book—placing essential tools directly into their hands.

As Scripture says, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, who bring glad tidings of good things!” (Romans 10:15). Through your support, you are not only helping a student learn—you are helping carry the gospel into hearts and places that might otherwise never be reached.

For those who feel impressed to take part in a tangible way, the EFM Worthy Student Fund offers a meaningful opportunity to help make this training accessible around the world. Together, we can ensure that those whom God is calling are not held back by financial limitations—but are empowered, equipped, and sent.

I am deeply grateful for the doors God has opened for Streams of Light to empower missionaries to use their gifts in reaching others for Him. We are reminded in Christ’s Object Lessons, p. 335:

“The power of speech is a talent that should be diligently cultivated. Of all the gifts we have received from God, none is capable of being a greater blessing than this. With the voice we convince and persuade, with it we offer prayer and praise to God, and with it we tell others of the Redeemer’s love.”

My heart overflows with gratitude as I watch our EFM students, in real time, cultivating this gift in order to bless others.

We also invite you to continue praying for the English for Mission program. Please pray that as it expands, God will guide every detail, that each student will make meaningful progress, and that the language skills they are developing will be used to touch lives and be a blessing to others.

In His Service,

Pat Humphrey
